Jagex Is Hiring For A New Free-to-Play MMO
A couple of months ago, we reported on Jagex partnering up with computation platform SpatialOS for the creation of "new online experiences." If some job postings on the Jagex site are any indication, plans for those new experiences are already underway.
There are several postings for an "Unannounced MMO" on the Jagex careers page. Oddly, though, the page doesn't include a listing on GamesIndustry.biz for a Senior Game Designer, which specifically calls for the new employee "to work on a Free to Play unannounced, new MMO." The posting calls for experience programming in Unity and "Experience developing Free to Play game design systems."
This posting, as well as two others, went up on the GI site just eight days after the SpatialOS announcement, which seems to offer a strong possibility that the new game is based on that tech. However, the fact that Jagex is still hiring for such high-level positions probably means we're months, or even years, from getting any more solid details on what exactly the new project is.
