Jackbox Games Is Working With Amazon To Bring Its Games To Smart TVs
Amazon is creating a dedicated Jackbox Games app.
Jackbox Games, the developer of party titles like You Don’t Know Jack, relies on players being able to easily access their games as a group in order for them to truly enjoy them. All in all, they do a pretty good job of it, offering solutions on PC and Console. But it seems they want to really make the games easy to access – say, via an app on your Smart TV. It’s not a terrible idea since Smart TVs are less expensive than the other options, and so many people already have them.
To achieve this, the company has decided to work with Amazon to create a dedicated Jackbox Games app for smart TVs. The app will start out as being solely available on smart TVs and will offer a few free-to-play games – although players will have to deal with ads. The idea is to eventually put the entire Jackbox library on the app and introduce a subscription that promises no ads.
Eventually, with the help of AWS GameLift Streams, the company hopes to bring the app to other platforms. There’s some mention of a watch, although they admit gathering a group to play a game around a watch would be “super-dumb”.
