It's Not Just About The Decorations: Walls, Floors, Ceilings, And More Will All Be Customizable In World Of Warcraft's Housing

You could even make your home a sprawling mansion on the outside, but one single room on the inside if you like.

When World of Warcraft started explaining their three philosophies behind the MMORPG's upcoming housing system last month, it was very clear they were taking aim directly at Final Fantasy XIV and the commons woes with their system. Blizzard specifically point out things like mass availability, no demolitions, and other gripes FFXIV players have as features that wouldn't be an issue in Warcraft.

While that was all certainly welcome news for players, it's now time to start getting into some of the nitty-gritty on WoW's systems. In a new blog post from the team, we get a look at the interior of homes and details on exactly how much can be customized. Don't worry, exterior information will be coming soon along with details about creating neighborhoods. Interestingly, though, if you really want your home to be a massive mansion on the outside but a single room on the inside, you can apparently do that.

As for the inside of your home, you'll be able to customize quite a bit. Wallpaper, ceilings, and flooring are all able to be edited. In fact, you'll also be able to just add walls in places where there wasn't one previously. As for items placed inside your home, there's multiple gimbals you can use to move and rotate items to your liking. There's advanced versions of these same tools for those that want to get more granular with positions of items. Certain items will snap to location automatically to help you out. For example, rugs will snap to the ground easily.

While items cannot be aligned into other items (you can't put a table halfway through a wall, for example), you can assign certain objects as parent items. Think placing a cup on top of a table. If you then move the table, the cup will go with it.

There's multiple videos showcasing all the tools available and a quick intro to a dye system in case you don't like the colors of certain items.

We'll still have to wait for more details on how you acquire items and other features, but it's a great way to see exactly how you'll be building the WoW home of your dreams.
