It May Not Have The Polish Of Battlerite Yet, But Fangs' Early Access Certainly Reminds Us Of That Game
MOBA fans get a new title to check out, but this one may be a faster pace than other competition.
Hidden Leaf Games has opened up the early access gates on Fangs, their F2P MOBA/hero brawler and you can now hop into the game on Steam. One look at a video of the game and you'll certainly recognize the game as a MOBA, complete with isometric camera and a full roster of diverse heroes.
It'll take you a little longer than just a glance, though, to see that this 4v4 team-based title skews a bit towards the faster-paced side of things. The maps are smaller and you are never very far away from being in the think of it.
And that's the point.
Think "Battlerite" and you'll have an idea of the mechanics at play here. Obviously it isn't EXACTLY Battlerite (and certainly doesn't have that level of polish yet being in early access) but I couldn't help but think of Battlerite while playing Fangs.
Heroes are varied and have a wide variety of abilities and "augments" you add to your hero can modify their actual playstyle, not just stats. Cast a spell by default and it behaves a certain way. Can it with an augment specific to that spell on, and it may behave in an entirely different way. The system, while not entirely new, does add quite a bit of flexibility as a single hero could have varied playstyles simply by augmenting differently each round.
It's worth at least checking out for MOBA fans new and experienced. Get more info on the game's site while it downloads.
