It’s Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail Press Day And There’s A Lot Of New Information To Chew On
There’s information on everything from job changes to chat bubbles.
Here we go! It’s officially Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail press day and every site and content creator that was lucky enough to attend one of these events is dropping their write-ups and videos today. We weren’t on that attendance list so, like everyone else, we’re checking out all the new information that’s dropped, watching interviews, checking out gameplay… you know. The usual.
As there are a lot of changes being introduced to the MMORPG with Dawntrail, ability combos, dual dying, blacklist updates, and more, folks had a lot of questions. For instance, Mr. Happy managed to get out of Yoshi-P that the dev team is working on new job weapons for old Ultimates. If you’re one of those players who have been sitting on totems waiting for that to happen, your wait is not in vain. However, we’re not sure when the wait will be over and the newest jobs (Pictomancer and Viper) will be prioritized.
He also asked about Blitzball and got shut down very quickly, with a very loud “No”. Sorry, Blitzball gang.
Meanwhile, Preach asked an important question about chat bubbles. Yes, they’re in the works. That's some good news for the RP crowd. He also inquired as to what Yoshi-P meant when talking about not being afraid of failure. This is about the dev team not being afraid to experiment and do things that players may not like, locking themselves into the same stuff forever.
Of course, there’s a lot of coverage about jobs, whether it’s the new jobs, the Action Change system, or anything else.
The FFXIV subreddit has compiled a good deal of this into one mega-thread, but there are some standalone things. For instance, Slyakagreyfox put together infographics on all the job and role abilities. MMORPG has information on the updated Blacklist system as well as dye changes (video below). PCGamer has assurances from Yoshi-P that the team has prepared for the expansion launch rush and we shouldn’t expect a repeat of Endwalker. Like we said, there’s a lot. It’s going to take a while for you to watch and read it all.
Before you start watching the videos, there is a bit of news the XIV team dropped earlier today. Following the announcement that the North American Dynamis data center is being expanded, they have now announced a "probationary" European Data Center named Shadow. This is a cautionary move to help prevent congestion at launch and will only be available for data center travel. No, you can't move to it and you can't create a new character on it, but you will be able to log into it if you can't get into your own world.
