Iron Gate AB Set To Launch Valheim On Microsoft Store And Xbox Platforms, Xbox Game Pass Starting Soon
It'll be even easier to play 2021's surprise title.
Viking survival game Valheim was a pleasant surprise when it first launched in February 2021, becoming one of the year's best titles. Today, developer Iron Gate AB announced that Valheim would finally arrive on Microsoft Store and Xbox platforms, including Xbox Game Pass for PC and console.
News of the Xbox and Microsoft Store launch was revealed by the official Valheim Twitter page, showcasing an announcement trailer on YouTube. The ending of the short video mentioned that the PC Xbox Game Pass version would arrive in the fall, with the console version kicking off in early spring 2023. But another addition to the big news is that Iron Gate AB will enable full crossplay support between Xbox platforms and Steam.
It’s finally happening! #Valheim is coming to Microsoft Store and #Xbox, and there will be full crossplay support, including with Steam! 🎮🎉https://t.co/Pw5Ne4gkxH pic.twitter.com/j5z4XeuQHo

Fans from Twitter and YouTube were ecstatic to hear the news and hungry for more content despite the game coming to Xbox and the Microsoft Store. However, several Twitter users felt left out because PlayStation 5 has yet to get Valheim.
One user commented, "How about a PS5 version?" to which another replied, "Sony does not like game previews." And honestly, that about sums it up. Xbox Game Pass doesn't seem as strict on Early Access titles like Valheim and can have players join the game at a lower pay threshold. PlayStation may have its new PlayStation Plus service, but it's not at the consumer-friendly level that Xbox Game Pass delivers.
