NFT-Based Space Title Infinite Fleet Enters Closed Beta, Will Avoid Wipes If Possible
The beta makes several improvements to the alpha content.
It’s been a while since we last wrote about Pixelmatic’s crypto-focused game Infinite Fleet – just about a year, in fact. In that time, the developer has been putting the game through its paces in alpha testing. Today, the game entered the next phase as it moved into closed beta. The developer has been working on developing the beta version for the last year, using input from an alpha test that’s been running for months.
Here’s the interesting thing, however. Because of the nature of the game, the developers aren’t just shutting off the alpha in order to move into beta. Rather, they’re giving a long lead time so that Alpha players will be able to level up their ships and be rewarded with $INF (the game’s cryptocurrency).
From this point on, the developers are planning a regular 2-month cycle for content. They will also be refraining from wiping content going forward, as they intend to iterate on the game instead.
Pixelmatic is currently accepting new players for the closed beta stage. They guarantee entry to anyone who buys a Centurion-class ship on the Infinite Fleet store. As it is an NFT-based game, these ships come in limited quantities. As of this writing, it appears that there are only two types of Centurion-class ships left, running either $40 or $80.
