If You're Curious About The Elder Scrolls Online's Shift To 2-Team PvP, It's Up On The Test Server Now
All of base-game Update 44 is also there for you to test things out.
It's no small change to drop an entire team from your Battlegrounds PvP. Previously a 3-team affair, The Elder Scrolls Online revealed changes coming in the MMORPG's base game Update 44 last week and the news on PvP was revealed. Matches should fill faster and be completed faster now that an entire team has been removed from the equation.
That said, will players who love PvP in ESO like the new, smaller matches? That remains to be seen as the update won't be live until late October on PC and early November on consoles. That said, if you're super curious about the changes, and the seven new maps added to the PvP rotation, you can hit up both of these changes right now on the Public Test Server.
Update 44 isn't all PvP, though, as two new companions have been added, but you'll need to either purchase them or be a subscriber to use them come launch. You could use access to them on the PTS to see which, if any, you'd like to buy come release.
When Update 44 does eventually launch, it'll be considered "base-game." That means that all players get the update automatically no matter what expansions you may or may not own. You won't have any other PvP option in Battlegrounds besides the new 2-team format...although 3-team matches could return in the future as part of special events.
