CitizenCon 2024

This weekend, October 19 and 20, Cloud Imperium Games is hosting CitizenCon 2954 in Manchester, UK. The event, which is dedicated to the sci-fi MMORPG Star Citizen, is being held at Manchester Central, where the developer expects around 5,000 attendees to invade a convention center themed after the United Earth Empire Navy’s Bengal Carrier.

The annual event will feature live presentations from the game’s developers with two themes broken up over the two days.

Day one will focus on the “People and Places in the ‘Verse” beginning with a panel titled “Brave New Worlds” which offers players insight into the StarEngine. This will be followed by a panel on the tools that will aid in the social aspects of the game and another panel on character specializations. The last presentation in this group will focus on locations outside the Station and Pyro systems. Finally, the day will close out with an unannounced presentation that the developers insist players won’t want to miss.

The second day of the event will address the “Future of the ‘Verse”. The first panel of the day “Crafting Your Home” looks at a “major shift” in gameplay and interaction with resources. A “Captains of Industry” panel focuses on the development of in-game vehicles. Yes, you’ll get a look at shiny new ships. The final panel of the day, “The Stars Are My Destination: Star Citizen 1.0” will be led by Senior Game Director Rich Tyler.

Of course, the whole thing will start with a Keynote on Day 1. For those watching via YouTube, it kicks off at 2:00 am Pacific time on Saturday, October 19.
