Iconic Villain Darth Malgus Takes Center Stage In SWTOR's 6.3 Update
Star Wars: The Old Republic is gearing up for Update 6.3: The Dark Descent, which goes live tomorrow following a downtime that's expected to last until 9:00 a.m. PDT. The biggest new piece of content is the flashpoint Secrets of the Enclave, which pits players against uber-villain Darth Malgus, and BioWare went in-depth with World Designer Allison Berryman to spill the beans on some of the details of the new instance.
Players will revisit the Jedi Enclave on Dantooine, "pursuing Malgus and trying to figure out what his plans are as you fight your way through the ruins," said Berryman. The location was chosen largely for its nostalgia value and there's even "a bonus mission that has a little bit of a trick to it to unlock the optional boss."
Update 6.3 also implements Galactic Seasons, a.k.a. a new battle pass, which were revealed back in March. Uncommon for this kind of system, BioWare will let players purchase levels using in-game currency (Credits) as well as premium currency (Cartel Coins). That option won't be available until later in the season and will cost an increasing number of credits to "skip" levels, but it's a nice option for players who have shiploads of credits that they would typically have no other use for.
Other events that are a part of this update include a May the Fourth (be with you) double XP event that runs from May 4-18, and Season 14 of Ranked PvP. You can read the full list of patch notes on the Star Wars: The Old Republic site.
