Overwatch 2 is sitting uncomfortably at “Overwhelmingly Negative” on Steam with over 150,000 reviews.

The Game’s Director Aaron Keller addressed the situation in a blog post, acknowledging the matter and empathizing with the players’ response. He highlighted the cancellation of the shooter's PvE component that had been announced in 2019 as a key source of disappointment for players, admitting that the ambitious project couldn't be realized.

Despite this setback, Keller stated the team's commitment to enhancing the game and winning over fans. He outlined plans to continually improve Overwatch 2, introducing more content like maps, heroes, game modes, stories, events, cosmetics, and features.

“Although being review-bombed isn’t a fun experience, it’s been great to see lots of new players jump into Overwatch 2 for the first time”, Keller wrote.

He added: “Many of the reviews on Steam mention the cancellation of the much larger component of PvE that was announced in 2019 as one of their primary reasons for dissatisfaction with the game. I get that. That announcement was about an ambitious project that we ultimately couldn’t deliver."

Note: Activision Blizzard has been sued by California’s Civil Rights Department, alleging violations of California’s Fair Employment and Housing Act and Equal Pay Act. CEO Bobby Kotick is alleged to have known about the alleged violations within his company. These allegations have all been denied by Activision Blizzard and the company points to additional diversity and inclusion training as past examples of taking the accusations seriously at the time they were made.

I don't care about words. Do your work and when players see the changes being implemented, then we will talk. Everything will stay the same until they decide to go back to their desks and do their damn job.
Less talk, more work.
