Hunt: Showdown's CryEngine 5.11 Update Goes Live This August
This is when support for PlayStation 4 and Xbox Series will cease.
Players of Crytek’s survival first person shooter Hunt: Showdown have known for a bit now that the company would be ceasing support for the game on PlayStation 4 and Xbox Series, but no one knew a date – other than that it wouldn’t happen any earlier than April of this year. Of course, we’ve passed April, and players were probably getting a bit antsy to know when they would be losing access to the game. Today, we have that date.
The update will drop on August 15, at which time players with older consoles will completely lose access to the game – at least until they upgrade to the current-gen consoles. This doesn’t mean that players will lose their accounts. They will still be there and players will be able to regain access to everything, including DLC, when they upgrade to a newer console. They will not have to repurchase anything for the game, and the upgrade will be free.
The team also offered some information on other important topics, such as the progress on dealing with cheaters. As is generally the case with these things, they aren’t incredibly forthcoming. They don’t want cheaters to know what they’re doing, after all. A new user interface is on the way and players will get a look at that in future showcases. The Hunter recruitment and Prestige systems are still being worked on, so expect some changes there.
All of this information was part of a dev update video posted today. Those interested can view it below.
