Hunt: Showdown 1896 Drops On PC And Console, And A CryEngine Update Makes Things Prettier
The update includes a Cryengine update.
Crytek’s Hunt: Showdown has traveled West and a bit into the future today with the launch of the 1896 update. Now set in a Colorado biome, the update introduces the Scorched Earth Event, new weapons, new hunters, and more. It also includes an engine update, now using Cryengine 5.11. That means a prettier and better-sounding game.
When players of the extraction shooter head to Colorado, they’ll be fighting in Mammon’s Gulch, which features 16 compounds across the Rocky Mountains. Players will explore old-west towns, mines, and other areas. They’ll also face a new wild target, Hellborn – a creature made of both fire and flesh.
Of course, heading to Colorado doesn’t mean the devs have given up on the bayou. Instead, the original maps have been overhauled to take advantage of the engine update.
The update also includes a new event: Scorched Earth. This event runs from now until October 7, during which time, players will be able to unlock more of the Mammon’s Gulch story while facing the fire that boils up from below the earth via mines and oil wells. Full details on the event are available via the Crytek site.
