HoYoVerse Responds To VA Claims About Not Having Been Paid
The company says they made payments to the recording studio on time.
Yesterday, we found out that some of Genshin Impact’s voice actors have not been paid in several months. Whether or not this was the fault of HoYoVerse or the recording studio Formosa was in question, as per tweets from Paimon voice actor Corina Boetter.
As should have probably been expected – due to the serious nature of these claims, HoYoVerse elected to officially address the issue. The company issued a statement to Video Games by GLHF stating that they’d just learned about the situation and have asked Formosa to pay the voice actors what they’re due.
The statement notes that “Genshin Impact values and respects the work and effort of everyone involved, and [they] support [their] voice actors to claim their proper due.” It also adds that the company made the appropriate payments to Formosa, “on time” and that they “immediately urged the studio to pay [their] voice actors from [their] past payment. Finally, it notes that they’re “seeking alternative solutions”. What those solutions are weren’t specified, but it might be a pretty fair guess that it involves looking for another studio to work with.
