Hi-Rez Celebrates "Best Ever" Season Of Smite, Details Changes Coming Next Season
Seasons 5 and 6 of Conquest Mode in Smite were "some of the best ever," but that doesn't mean some things don't need changing. The team at Hi-Rez Studios and Titan Forge Games laid out some of the plans for Season 7 in a blog post today, which will attempt to solve some of the issues that cropped up in the previous seasons, such as the Invade meta and the impact of various roles.
To address these issues, the Hand of the Gods consumable item returns, and a new relic, Vision Shard, takes the place of each player's "inactive" relic slot at the start of the game to help avoid early-game ganks. The map is seeing several changes too, such as a new early-game objective, the Relic Shrine, earlier spawns for the Purple and Yellow Buff camps, a new XP camp, and -- to help people kill each other more efficiently -- health pots no longer stack with the Health Chalice.
The dev team vows that, with feedback from players at all levels, it will "strive to continue to improve the current Conquest map" throughout the year. And here I thought they'd just say, "Game's perfect, we won't change anything ever again."
