Looks like the pace is picking up post-company layoffs.

The original plan for new (or reworked) gods to come to SMITE 2 was targeting dropping them every 3 weeks. Given that Baron Samedi and Yemoja just dropped into the MOBA's sequel 2 weeks ago, we were expecting another week before we received new characters. Wait no more though as today Hercules and Danzaburou were added to the MOBA.

This early drop is indicative of the new "faster" approach the team is planning to take going forward. They do caution that some patches may not make it "early", but that's the goal. This also could come with the fact that characters could have more than the "normal amount of bug fixes" later, but it does get gods into testers' hands faster.

On the other hand, this could just be indicative of the seeming importance of SMITE 2 for Hi-Rez going forward, an importance underscored when teams were hit with layoffs and the company expressed a shift in focus.

Faster doesn't always mean better and it could be a "we need to get to launch ASAP" situation, but we'll have to wait to see which may be the case here.

On the new gods front, Hercules is all about getting into the fray, but his strength isn't his only key attribute. Being able to heal and to crowd control a bit make Hercules pretty well-rounded. Danzaburou caters more towards the "hit and run" players. Attempting to trick enemies into laid traps that deal high damage is the name of the game.

If you are watching SMITE 2 but haven't seen their "Titan Talk!" streams, you really should check them out as they provide all the minutia for each patch and toss out all the fixes coming for each patch, usually before the patches drop. I've put the most recent episode below.
