Hardware: Shipbreakers Trailer Gives Off The Homeworld Vibe
The Free-to-Play niche of the gaming market has quite a few quality titles that make up some of the staple genres like MMORPG and FPS, but there is a noticeable void when it comes to real time strategies. Sure we've got EA's upcoming Command and Conquer and the now in limbo End of Nations, but not a whole lot of RTS have really stood out in recent months, until now.
Hardware: Shipbreakers is a new sci-fi RTS from Blackbird Interactive whose core team is comprised of the original creators behind the hugely successful RTS series, Homeworld. While Homeworld was set in space, Harware seems firmly planted on the planets below. The new trailer does a good job of setting the mood for the RTS, whose style has obviously taken cues from the dev's past work.
The RTS is apparently taking a different approach to the genre, with players focused on survival instead of conquest. This is after all, an RTS about collecting loot from giant spaceship wrecks. I'd imagine players will be tasked with salvaging goods from the wrecks while defending against rival groups keen on scooping up the ship's contents for themselves.
Closed beta is said to be incoming soon.
