Hardcore Sandbox MMO Life Is Feudal Goes Free-To-Play
Life may be feudal, but it's also free. Bitbox Ltd.'s medieval sandbox Life Is Feudal MMO is now free-to-play, letting players explore beyond the "newbie island" that was previously the limit for free players. Now you can get ganked all over the map, and for free!
All of Abella is now available for free players, though that comes with some challenges. In lieu of having a First Look ready, I'm drawing a great deal of information from a video done up by YouTuber (and experienced LIF player MyUsualMe), which I've embedded below. He's pretty harsh in assessing the challenge of the game, but probably also correct. If you're tired of themepark casual MMOs that hold your hand and present no real danger in the open world, LIF MMO might be right for you. Just try not to get frustrated after death #728.
Another warning is that, despite being labeled as "full free-to-play," MyUsualMe cautions that you'll need multiple characters to really achieve anything worthwhile. He needed those characters to "go in every single day, clean the stalls, feed the animals, and make sure that everything was taken care of" in his village. He equates the game to a "second job," and many other reviews seem to express similar views regarding the grind -- and that's for people who paid for the game.
Note that this is a different title from the original Life Is Feudal: Your Own game, which has its own Steam page and is not free-to-play. You can check out the Life is Feudal MMO on Steam or via the game's website if you've got the (great deal) of time and patience to survive in the harsh and unforgiving wilderness.
