If This Was Why You Bought It, Be Ready To Be Disappointed: Halo Infinite Won’t Be Getting Local Multiplayer

Halo Infinite players who had dreams of sitting on their couch with their buddies for a match or two have now seen those dreams dashed. In a dev stream yesterday, 343 Industries informed fans that co-op has been canceled to allow the developers to focus on other things. Among those things are new maps, a new battle pass, a new game mode, and a winter event, so it’s not like players aren’t getting anything...but a long awaited feature is out.
That said, the company had been promising local co-op from the beginning. Even more, they held beta testing over the summer, so for a lot of folks, it probably seemed like a done deal. Now they discover that that’s not the case. Perhaps the beta test was more of a nail in the coffin than anything else and they found more problems with the feature than were worth spending their time on. Whatever the reasoning behind it, it’s a shame for those who were patiently waiting.
