Halo Infinite Multiplayer Is Sometimes Causing Players To Use 1GB Of Data Per Game
It’s safe to say that people are not happy.
First, 343 Industries released an offensive Juneteenth cosmetic, then Halo Infinite’s desync issue was left unresolved because “the development teams are busy.” Now players are unable to play Halo Infinite because players cannot financially cover the cost that the data takes up. The issue was mentioned by NicmeistaR on Twitter where the game reportedly used between 305Mb and 900Mb of data. If player’s didn't realize they could unintentionally reach their data cap in a single day.
Despite the severity of the situation, the HaloSupport Twitter account said that “An improvement for this issue will be included in August’s Drop Pod update.” This issue, coupled with those mentioned above as well as many other issues, has the player base obviously upset.
One Twitter user writes: “Isn’t this an urgent ‘send fix out as soon as possible’ thing? There are people with no landline and transfer limits of e.g. 100 or 100GB data per month, so 200MB per match is a huge number.”
The backlash and concerns voiced on Twitter did seem to get a faster response, as a recent update from HaloSupport says: "The #HaloInfinite team has deployed a backend update that improves the amount of data downloaded after multiplayer matches. This update is now live and no download is needed. The team will continue to monitor this issue and work on additional improvements for August's Drop Pod."
