Halo Infinite’s Latest Update Includes Halo 2 Maps In Time For A Big Anniversary
Just in time for Halo 2’s 20th Anniversary.
On November 9, Halo 2 turns 20. The Halo Infinite team is celebrating by dropping some classic Halo 2 maps into the current shooter by way of the Delta Arena playlist. Included in the playlist are legacy settings as well as a new weapon inspired by the Halo 2 SMG. Of course, it won’t play exactly like the original Halo 2 content as Infinite is a different game and the devs have to work within that framework. It should, however, be close enough to fill that little nostalgia hole in your heart.
In fact, the whole Greater Journey update is a nostalgia ride with content like the Third-Person Firefight taking players back to Halo’s pre-Xbox days. The update also introduces a remake of a classic Halo 2 map, Midship, to Ranked.
Of course, nostalgia isn’t the only feeling the devs are concerned with right now. Recently, 343 Industries rebranded to Halo Studios and stated that Halo Infinite would be the last of their games using the “old recipe” as going forward, all its games would be built using Unreal Engine 5.
