Guild Wars Celebrates 20 Years With A Massively Discounted Full Bundle And Some New Content
If you've ever held off due to box fees, it probably won't get cheaper than this.
Yes, I know, the original Guild Wars isn't a F2P MMORPG, but to celebrate the game's 20th anniversary, a new bundle makes the entire Guild Wars package damn near free, so I thought I'd write it up so you don't miss out. If you have ever wanted to play the original but didn't like the idea of buying multiple boxes for the online adventures game (yeah, this isn't an "MMO" in the way you think about them, think more like co-op adventuring), a special "20th Anniversary Masterpiece" edition bundles everything together for $7.99.
The edition includes all three of the game’s campaigns (Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall), the Eye of the North expansion, and the Bonus Mission Pack.
On top of the offering, Guild Wars is adding in some "new" content. Some of this isn't "technically" new, but it does make a few previously locked items available via alternate methods. From the official press release, "Many promotional items that heretofore were only obtainable as pre-orders and territorial bonuses from the mid-2000s will now be added as rare drops from high-level enemies in the game world. Additionally, a selection of previously limited-release minis can now be obtained as non-tradeable items from Merrise in Embark Beach as part of the in-game Anniversary festival until May 6."
A few new weapon upgrades make their way into the game, too. May be worth a look if you've ever considered trying it out.
