Guild Wars 2 Breaks Down Player Feedback On New Weapon Proficiencies, Here Are The Changes They're Making
There's a lot of feedback coming in.
Back in November, ArenaNet hosted a beta event for the MMORPG's new weapon proficiencies for each class in Guild Wars 2. They collected a lot of feedback, and are now going to work on a laundry list of tweaks and changes to make the new weapons for each class the best that they can be. Let's dive into what they had to say about what you had to say about the new weapons during the beta.
Maces for Rangers in Guild Wars 2 seems to have been a hit with players. They were missing an interaction with Ranger pets, however, so that will be remedied by adding a pet heal-over-time to Oaken Cudgel. Rampant Growth will now heal nearby allies, and the required stacks for Force of Nature are being reduced from 6 to 5, with an increase to the duration of Nature's Strength.
Thief got axes during the beta, bringing back condition builds for Deadeye. Axe projectiles were sadly a bit lacking in terms of travel time and targeting, so adjustments are being made to improve both.
Warriors got to be all "supporty" with a staff. Line Breaker is being changed from a targeted skill to a ground target AOE. Adrenaline gain is also being addressed as Guild Wars 2 beta Warriors expressed concern over the lack of Adrenaline they were gaining with the staff.
Revenants were using the sustain-focused scepter main hand, and some changes are incoming for it. Charging skills with your auto attack chain was too easy in PvE and all but impossible in PvP, so ArenaNet is simply removing the mechanic from the weapon. Blossoming Aura will now be able to be placed on an ally, sacrificing its damage for guaranteed ally support.
The Journey skill on the Mesmer rifle is seeing a cast time reduction, with the explosion on Abstraction being removed. Phantasms will fire faster using Phantasmal Shooter, and a flash effect was added to Singularity Shot to help grab your allies' attention to the portal it produces.
Elementalist is getting pistols. Say it one more time for those in the back. The biggest feedback they got was that the animations all felt too similar. Animations are being updated and casting times are being sped up to help the pistols feel more fluid in combat.
Guardians in Guild Wars 2 are also getting dual pistols. The offhand pistol is getting a bit of love so that it shines more, but other than that they're basically just watching further feedback and seeing how it all shakes out.
Sword Necromancers left players underwhelmed and asking where the damage was. The power coefficients on the sword will be increased and some clunky animations are being ironed out. The auto attack chain projectiles are also getting a logic update much like the thief axes.
Finally, we get to the Engineer, where the short bow kinda just flopped during the beta. It's getting the biggest makeover out of the bunch to make it more fun and useful. It was criticized for being slow, with a skill radius that was too small to be useful. The short bow also lacked the tools necessary to choose it over other Engineer weapons. All of this and more are being addressed with what sounds like a fairly substantial overhaul of the short bow for Engineers.
You can read the full breakdown of everything ArenaNet had to say over on the Guild Wars 2 site. Also, they'll be diving into the finer details of all of these weapons during their livestream on the 16th.
