Grinding Gear Games Goes Behind The Music Of Path Of Exile 2
The gameplay won't be the only new thing that separates Path of Exile 2 from its predecessor. PoE 2 will also have a new musical score, composed by Grinding Gear Games' in-house composer Kamil Orman-Janowski, and today GGG showed off the first in a series of a videos of Orman-Janowski describing his approach for the sequel's soundtrack.
PoE 2 will still have the "dark and gritty" sound of the first game, which Orman-Janowski will take "to another level." Act I's music is a mix of folk, tribal, and industrial tracks, the last of which was inspired by the work of Nine Inch Nails' frontman Trent Reznor. He then describes the musical stylings of various areas, such as the Crypt and the Hunting Grounds, which he calls "a tribute to the music from Diablo II."
Orman-Janowski also used elements of the game itself, such as the artwork or the "more intense" boss battles, to help inspire his work, which he hopes will "horrify players." Obviously, I can only do so much to describe the music here, so give the video a look -- and a listen:
