Last week, Grinding Gear Games hosted a live stream reviewing everything coming to the F2P APRG's sequel when Path of Exile 2's Dawn of the Hunt update drops this Friday, April 4th. We broke down everything the stream revealed in a piece last week, but now the devs are back with a full FAQ and an update regarding portals...since there seemed to be a little confusion over that one.

Let's get the financial questions out of the way. If you already purchased a Path of Exile 2 founder's pack, you won't be paying for this update. Everything in this update will also be part of the core game. Your PoE purchases will be available in PoE 2, provided the particular feature has already been implemented in PoE 2. Any stash tab purchases you've made will also be available, but your stash will be empty when joining the new league. There won't be any new supporter packs added for Dawn of the Hunt.

When it comes to characters, you don't HAVE to create a new character for this league, but the team does recommend you do so. There won't be a wipe for Dawn of the Hunt, either. You may have a Passive Tree reset to deal with and some balance changes may have changed the way your character actually plays. Get in some practice if you plan to take your existing character into the fray.

PC users can pre-download the update via a torrent file that will be up the day before launch on April 3rd.

In a separate post, GGG talks map portals. Seeing a bit of confusion/concern after the stream, the team provides more specifics on changes they're making. You will now be able to enter and exit a map as much as you want if you haven't died. The number of portals you have is now representative of the number of revives you have on the map. Survive, and you can come and go as you like. If you do end up dying, you can port back to the last checkpoint to avoid a long walk if you failed to set a portal. Dying and then reviving also starts you at the last checkpoint without a loading screen. However, that last change may be made slightly after the update's launch, but the team is trying to get it in there for launch if possible.

Just a few more days, gang. Get ready now.
