Time to see what a group of ex-WoW devs can make.

We live in a time where Blizzard and World of Warcraft have been around for so long now that almost ANY MMO or gaming project can usually slap the "developed by ex-WoW devs" tag in their press releases. However, I've always viewed Legacy: Steel & Sorcery a tad differently on that front. When I interviewed the CEO of Notorious Studios we even spoke about the sheer amount of time (measured in years), the levels of leadership on WoW the team was involved in, and the amount of team members that were previously on WoW. When I think "made by ex-WoW" devs, this is the type of team I think about. I do not think about that team that has a few previous Blizzard employees in their ranks.

Anyway, today it's time to finally see what this team has to offer with Legacy: Steel & Sorcery hitting early access. Now, the team doesn't call this an MMO, but it certainly shares some MMO elements. Think of Dark and Darker or Escape from Tarkov wrapped in a Lord of the Rings fantasy shell. In fact, that's exactly how the team describes things in their early access press release.

You can get started at about 1 PM EST (barring issues) and if you want to hop in it'll cost you $24.99 for the standard edition. There are two other founder's pack priced at $49.99 and $59.99 if you want to snag some extras and support the devs a bit more.

Roll up a warrior, rogue, or other class, arm yourself, hit the map, kill and loot, then escape. You know the deal here by now.

However, early access does see a number of additions and improvements including a new, smaller tutorial map, the first series of quests to get the campaign underway, a "How to Play" tips tool, and a slew of UI and gameplay improvements and bug fixes. Peruse the notes ahead of today's launch.
