Genshin Impact Version 2.3 Adds A New Mystery In Dragonspine, New Characters, And Free Codes
Also, a pretty big change to wishes is on the way.
Things are about to get a bit chilly in the next Genshin Impact update. Okay, some things are going to be chilly, since according to today’s Special Program, we are headed back to Dragonspine for one of several in-game events. The event, boasts the same name as the Version 2.3 update – Shadows Amidst Snowstorms. In this event, you’re there for winter training with the Mondstadt crew. Of course, there’s story content – teased in the version trailer. The rest of the event consists of “training activities” geared toward agility, tracking, and combat – which are what you’re going to need to do to earn the majority of the event rewards. More importantly, you’ll need to do it to acquire snowmen components to build snowmen with – that you can later use in your teapot. Oh yeah, and building the snowmen gets you a new sword…which I probably should have led with there….but, Teapot decoration.
To participate in this event, you’ll need to be at Adventure Rank 20 and have completed the requisite quests.
The update also introduces two new playable characters…both from Inazuma and both boasting Geo Visions. One is everybody’s favorite puppy boy, General Gorou. Gorou wields a bow and features abilities mostly consisting of AOE damage and buffs to party members based on the number of Geo users in the party. He also features an exploration talent that helps players find resources specific to Inazuma.
The other addition is a new face, an oni by the name of Arataki Itto. He’s the leader of the “Arataki Gang” – which mostly seems harmless, and a lover of games, or winning them, at least. He wields a claymore and his combat style is based on lots of stacks. Arataki also likes to throw a cute little bull at his enemies. Like Garou, he also has an exploration talent. His increases the wood obtained when beating up trees.
Arataki Itto comes with his own story quests. Taurus Iracundus Chapter: Act I. As for Gorou, he’ll be getting his own hangout. Speaking of hangouts, there’s one for Beidou as well. So, you know, Get those story keys ready.
Both Gorou and Arataki Itto will be available in Phase 2 of 2.3’s event wish events. What’s in the first phase? It turns out we’re getting a two-fer with the return of both Albedo And Eula’s events. After listening to players – and noting the increasing number of playable characters in the game, miHoYo has come to the conclusion that it could take a while for characters to come back around in the normal way. They’ve shifted gears a bit so that the rotations are based on characters who fit the current content – like the Shadows Amidst Snowstorms event featuring both Albedo and Eula. This way, the rotation is faster. To make things even easier, they’ve made it so that both wishes share the same cumulative pull count toward the guaranteed 5-star drop. Now, it doesn’t matter which you’re pulling from, you can switch to the one you want when you’re getting close to the guaranteed drop.
On the replayable content front, the update adds a new boss, the Golden Wolf Lord, who also happens to be King of the Rift Wolves, and a new domain offering a new weapon and two new artifact sets.
Of course, there are several events. Most are returning events, but the new one, titled "Bantan Sango Case Files: The Warrior Dog" has players searching for missing animals in Inazuma. This is going to require a bit of sneakiness as you’ll be going up against a mysterious dog patrolling the area (with some illusionary copies for reinforcements). You can probably try fighting him to rescue the animals, but it’s probably better to just sneak past. If you can’t, there’s still hope, as in this event, you’ll be using an item known as the “Ubiquity Net”, which allows you to rescue the stolen animals and stun the patrolling dog. You can also make use of items placed around the area to distract the dog. Some of the animals are also being held in Dens of Thieves. The thieves you should beat up so you can open the cages and set the animals free. Once you’ve completed the event, you can complete a special quest to obtain an “Omni-Ubiquity Net” which basically lets you “catch” animals in the wild and add them to your teapot.
Speaking of adding animals to the teapot, with this update, Paimon can finally hang out there. So, finally, we’ll know exactly where our emergency food is at at all times.
That’s pretty much everything coming in the next update – On November 24. Obviously, it’s not as big as the last ones, but still has some neat additions. And, as always…today’s stream offered codes. You have until tonight to claim them. Just log in to your account on the Genshin Impact site.
