Genshin Impact Version 2.2 Arrives October 13, New Razer Collab Merch Available
Hold on to those Primos. Thoma’s being added to the roster.
On October 13, Tsurumi Island, the last major island in Inazuma, will be made available in Genshin Impact’s Version 2.2 update – Into the Perilous Labyrinth of Fog. As you might guess, the island is shrouded in dense fog (Inazuma and its weather anomalies) and is home to new challenges, including stealthy creatures with the ability to apply a “Corrosion” status to not only the character they hit but every member in a party. The Rifthounds and their Whelps’ corrosive effect causes characters to continuously lose HP, and shields won’t do anything to prevent it.
The island is also the focus of research. A scholar from Sumeru needs help investigating a new kind of Ruin Grader known as the “Anomalous Model Ruin Grader”. The “anomalous” part is that the Ruin Grader is able to self-heal by drawing power from an unknown source of energy. It’s our job to figure out where that energy is coming from and do something about it. It’s not going to be easy and, since we’re dealing with a researcher, it will take more than just running in and beating the thing up. He’s going to insist on doing this by the numbers.
Character-wise, the update only adds one newbie to the roster, although he’s probably someone you’ve been wanting. Inazuma’s fixer Thoma will be available in a later wish event after a repeat wish event for Childe. Thoma will be featured in a wish event with Hu Tao. A full visual demo of Thoma in action can be found in today’s Special Event, but the important details are that he’s a Pyro Vision user armed with a polearm. Being the guy that takes care of everything, he comes with strong defenses and buffs that can stack.
A good portion of the content in this particular update is events. The story event “Labyrinth Warriors” has players traveling into a domain in Inazuma with Childe. Whether or not that’s a good thing, what with how the Fatui have behaved in Inazuma recently, is up for debate but it seems that this particular domain is something Childe can’t resist as it’s a place for him to test himself as a warrior. Players will also be joined by Xinyan, the rock star from Liyue, in this quest. They’ll also have help from a paper figure name “Shiki Taishou” who provides buffs and other assistance.
For those that dig rhythm games, it’s returned. This time, everyone’s favorite poet from Inazuma, Kazuha, will gift players with a Floral Zither to use in the rhythm challenges. The idea is the same as last time, but players won’t be playing alone. Instead, they’ll team up with several of the game’s characters to play songs specific to each of them. Mechanics have also been changed a bit with the addition of held notes. Rhythm game players should be able to handle that, right?
The next event ties into the Serenitea Pot. For this event, players will be able to acquire flower seeds in exchange for items. These seeds can then be grown in the Serenitea Pot and used to create bouquets for decorative purposes or sent to friends who might need them to complete the event. In the end, you’ll have your own flower stall to put in the teapot. Just be sure to plant all the seeds before the event is over.
Speaking of the Serenitea Pot, a new Inazuma-themed realm is being added. To obtain this realm, players need to have upgraded the Sacred Sakura’s Favor to level 40 and claim the rewards. While you work on that, you can obtain new Inazuma-themed furnishing blueprints, even finding some of them in the newest kind of treasure chest – “Remarkable Chests”. A new kind of furnishing will also be available; the floating platform, and yes, you can put things on them and adjust their height.
Finally, if you’re a big Razer fan, then you’ll probably be excited to know that miHoYo has teamed up with them to create Paimon-themed Razer gear including a mouse, mousepad, and an ergonomic chair. These items also come with in-game rewards.
Of course, today’s stream wouldn’t have been a Special Program without redemption codes and we have them here for you. Just do your best to use them before the day is out.
