We're Getting A Real World Waypoint! Genshin Impact Alps Lighting Ceremony To Take Place This Week
Celebrate the one year anniversary of Dragonspine’s release in style.
Alright Genshin Impact fans, you did it! Over three million players participated in the Enchanting Journey of Snow and Stars web event and that means that a date has been set for the lighting of the Waypoint in the Alps. In fact, it’s only three days away.
On January 13, miHoYo will host a special lighting ceremony featuring a light show, musical performances, and more, and fans will be able to watch it via YouTube, Twitch, or VK. Interestingly, the Twitch stream will air an hour earlier than YouTube or VK, but the YouTube broadcast will be available to watch as a VOD. The schedule is as follows:
- Twitch: January 13, 2022 22:00 (UTC+8)
- YouTube: January 13, 2022 23:00 (UTC+8)
- VK: January 13, 2022 23:00 (UTC+8)
The ceremony is set to be held at Val Thorens, the highest ski resort in Europe. As mentioned, it will feature the lighting of a real-world teleport waypoint and a performance by the Orchestre Symphonique Confluences of Lyon, France. (They hauled a grand piano onto that snowy mountain, so people should watch just so that effort doesn’t go to waste.) In addition, wishes sent in from players will be placed on the Tree of Wishes in the Alps.
Oh, and if you’ve yet to participate in the event, it’s still available on miHoYo’s site. At least check in and get your free items.
