Futuristic Superhero MMO Valiance Online Announces Free-To-Play Model
It's not exactly City of Heroes, but SilverHelm Studios' futuristic superhero MMORPG Valiance Online is definitely looking to tap into that same aesthetic and feel. With what looks to be a very robust character creator, Valiance Online could scratch that independent superhero itch that the licensed IPs in Marvel Heroes and DC Universe Online don't quite provide.
Today's dev blog confirmed that Valiance Online would be free to play, while also letting interested players in on what the team has been up to lately, wrapping up a successful pre-alpha and preparing for alpha and early access on Steam. There's a lot devoted to character generation -- want to have parts of your body missing? -- and the visual look of the game, along with its feature-rich website, which will contain profiles of every player character in the game.
SilverHelm also plans on making a series of comics to showcase important NPCs and help players learn about how they came to be the men, women, and aliens, as well as providing backstory on the game world, which exists in the 22nd century and includes interstellar travelers, alternate realities, and dinosaurs. Check it all out on the Valiance Online site.
