Funcom Has A New Partner Helping Develop The Dune Survival Game
German studio NUKKLEAR joins the team.
It looks like things are progressing nicely on Funcom’s upcoming Dune survival game. In fact, they even have a new partner joining them on the project. Today, the announcement that German studio NUKKLEAR would be partnering with the Secret World Legends and Age of Conan developer on the development of the game based on Frank Herbert’s popular IP. NUKKLEAR will be co-developing the game with Funcom and they’ll be bringing additional financial backing with them.
NUKKLEAR recently received a 1.6 million Euro grant from the BMVI (Bundesministerium für Verkehr und Digitale Infrastruktur – or Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure if Google Translate did its job correctly), part of which will be used to support the Dune project.
Funcom has already received investment from Tencent, which they used to expand the scope of the game. Now, NUKKLEAR will help with completing it. According to NUKKLEAR CEO Kirk Lenke, this is the largest project they’ve collaborated on so far. He also noted that their team “welcomes the challenge and is confident in the expertise” they’ll bring.
