Full Steam Ahead! City of Steam Gets Closed Beta Dates
I'm a huge Steampunk fan Huge! How huge? Well little known fact my most commonly used username is Spunkify which was actually derived from SteamPunk smashed together with a dash of -ify at the end. But now that i've bored you details surrounding my glee when it comes to all things Steampunk I have some interesting details to impart.
The closed beta dates for City of Steam have been announced! The browser based, slightly Diablo esque Steampunk MMO has made its way through Alpha stage and is poised to undergo 4 different closed beta phases.
The dates are spread throughout the middle of November and December with each lasting 5 days. The full schedule is below:
Springtide: Nov. 16 – 20
Summercrest: Nov. 30 – Dec. 4
Autumnwane: Dec. 14 – 18
Winter Festival: Dec. 23 – 28
Mechanist Games, the studio behind City of Steam have also released a new beta trailer which showcases the intricate world at stake as well as what menacing type of foes players can expect. The studio also seems to be running a pseudo kickstarter style beta pre-order packs which award early supporters with beta keys, name reservations, early access and more.
At certain intervals if enough players have shared the game through social media or purchased the beta packs, Mechanist Games will add additional features to the game. Some promised features include more customization options, unique clothing, a new race, a steambike and something called a MarshPuggle which seems to be a weird steampunk Monotreme. For those of you who don't know what a Monotreme is (don't feel bad I didn't either) it's any mammal that lays eggs. Curious since the MarshPuggle is neither a mammal nor a puggle....One might even ask, "does it even live in a marsh?"
If you haven't already signed up for the City of Steam beta you can do so now by visiting the official site here.
