From Out Of Nowhere, Evolve: Stage 2 Is Back With The Return Of Online Peer-To-Peer Servers
Perhaps a dedicated community is all one game has ever really needed.
In 2018, Evolve: Stage 2 had its multiplayer servers shut down. Now, 4 years later, online services have been reinstated. On June 22, an update was posted to the Evolve Discord server that read: “Evolve: Stage 2 now has an online peer-to-peer server again!”
The message goes on to give thanks to the dedicated members and community in the Discord by saying: “Thanks to you, we are reviving this unique gaming experience!” In addition to being able to play online again, players are also reporting that drop crates are working and are even rewarding skins. These crates have been missing from the game since the servers first shut down in 2018.
According to Steam Stats, the number of players currently playing the game has shot up from 18 on July 20 all the way to 700 as of today. The only real issue the game is currently having is with matchmaking, as it is taking some time due to the lack of awareness of the game's revival. It is because of this that most players are opting for peer-to-peer games. Already dedicated Discord servers have some players listing join codes.
While it is still unknown if this fix is here to stay, people should simply live in the moment and enjoy the online mode while it is here.
