Four Years After The Last Shut Down, VALOFE Is Bringing Shooting Game S4 League Back
A new website ushering in the return is already live.
VALOFE is one of those companies that I only occasionally get to write about. They have a pretty small library of games that we would actually cover and usually, sad to say, those games tend to end up in a "bad news" type of box. As a perfect example, yesterday I reported on VALOFE announcing an update to MMORPG Riders of Icarus at the exact same time they announced the closure of the "play-to-earn" game.
Knowing that, today's news may be a little "good news/bad news" for fans of the defunct acrobatic shooter game S4 League. The good news is the game, after shutting down official back in 2021, is making a comeback. The maybe bad news? VALOFE is the company bringing it back.
We don't have dates or anything yet, but we can glean a few details from the new announcement trailer and the new official website. On the game modes front there are 4 modes confirmed to be returning according to the site. Touchdown does what you think and your team needs to take the ball to the opposing team's goal. Deathmatch is, well, a deathmatch. Chaser mode amps up the power of one character and the other players just try to survive. Finally, we see an arcade mode that allows co-op play against AI bots to learn the lore of the "Stylish eSper Shooting Sports" league. (Yes, that's what it stands for.)
The trailer below shows off a bit of gameplay and seems to confirm that the capsules (loot boxes) will be back, but we don't know in what capacity. I think that's going to be a big sticking point on the game's possible success: making sure the return of the game doesn't come with pay-to-win.
Are you interested in the return? There's a place on the new site for you to chime in on your thoughts if you want to communicate directly with the team.
