UPDATED: Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 Brings The Gods To The Fight, Although It’s Running A Bit Late
Fight the gods on Mount Olympus.
Epic Games is introducing the Olympian gods to Fortnite Battle Royale. These legendary gods are taking control of the Island, and as we all know, gods getting involved in anything human-related is rarely good for the humans. It’s up to the battle royale's players to challenge these deities and figure out how to use their own powers against them. (Although it seems Zeus and the others aren’t above using human technology as well.)
The update doesn’t just add the gods, but locations associated with them. Prepare to fight on Mount Olympus, in the Underworld, and in Ares’ own Brawler’s Battleground. The gods also bring their weapons with them, and it is possible for players to obtain them. Who doesn’t want to throw lightning using Zeus’ Thunderbolt? Although, not all the gods' weapons are exactly traditional. Cerberus carries a shotgun, Hades wields an SMG, Artemis’ weapon of choice is a DMR, and Ares favors the Warpforged Assault Rifle.
The update also includes the Myths & Mortals Battle Pass, where players can unlock a variety of rewards across all of Fortnite. The pass runs 950 V-Bucks and players can earn up to 1,500 back by playing.
Unfortunately, there is a bit of bad news regarding this update. It was expected to drop this morning, but according to a tweet from Fortnite support this morning, maintenance had to be extended by at least 8 hours due to an unexpected issue.
Hey everyone, we encountered an unexpected issue during our maintenance and we need to extend downtime at least 8 additional hours.

UPDATE: More delays
We’re continuing the work to bring Fortnite back online. Players will be able to pre-download an updated version of v29.00 in approximately 5 hours.
We’re grateful for your patience and can’t wait for everyone to be able to jump in. ⚡💛 pic.twitter.com/lcresJjEuc
