Former Mythic Games Developers Form New Studio “Loric Games”
A studio dedicated to creating the next great generation of co-op survival RPGs
Hiro Capital just announced that it has become the chief in Virginia-based Loric Games - a new development studio founded by former Mythic Entertainment veterans Brian Johnson, Ray Soto, and Mythic's co-founder Rob Denton. During their time at Mythic and BioWare, the three worked together on titles such as Ultima Online, Dark Age of Camelot, Warhammer Online, and Star Wars: The Old Republic.
Loric Games plans to lead the next great generation of co-op survival RPGs by emphasizing the story. "We're building a game that's more than just eating berries, punching trees, and building thatch huts," said Johnson. "We all love playing games with heroic stories. Through our long history of developing games, we've bought into the idea that good storytelling can set a game apart. The survival experience can be much more impactful with the right blend of story and open-world gameplay mechanics."
More details on Loric Games' first title will be revealed in 2023, but for now, the studio is focused on building out more of the team that will help bring their vision to life. For players interested in learning more about the game as it’s revealed, and to sign up early for alpha and beta testing, please head to the official website.
