Dark Passenger Japan Game

A new project set in Feudal Japan is on the horizon and it has some very experienced developers with ties to well-known games behind it. Dark Passenger – a Warsaw-based dev studio – announced a new project set in “a captivating, dark world full of mysteries, extraordinary characters and tense conflicts that are consuming the Land of the Cherry Blossom”. Or, rather, they’re making an online action game that supports PvP and co-op PvE. We’re not talking about an MMO here, but a match-based combat game.

The game is built around how players interact and focuses on things like building alliances and confrontations. This also carries over into how the game’s combat system works, allowing players to set things up – such as firing arrows that another player can run along. A possible use of this would be to fire arrows into a wall that someone else can use to scale the wall more easily.

For the most part, the game will be in first-person. But there will be occasions where the third-person perspective is used. It’s also worth noting that the only single-player component in the game will be the training dojo.

The Dark Passenger studio is home to developers who have worked on some very well-known games. In particular the co-founders, Jakub Ben and Marcin Michalski, worked on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and its expansions. Both worked as artists on the game and also lent their skills to Cyberpunk 2077 as “outsource partners”. They were with Realtime Warriors studio – which creates in-game cinematics – at the time.
