First A Kinda-MOBA, Then A Roguelite, Now A New Name: "Evercore Heroes Ascension" Ready To Reveal a "New Way To Play"

No, the gameplay isn't changing again, maybe just being added to some.

Evercore Heroes hasn't had the smoothest of development cycles. What originally started as a competitive PvE multiplayer game with some characteristics taken straight from MOBAs, it found itself in a bit of a bind when the closed beta didn't attract the attention the game needed to survive. I mean it was a "closed beta"...but whatever.

Employees at Vela Games were laid off and Evercore Heroes went into a maintenance mode while its now smaller team went back to rework the game for a future release. A release many thought wasn't coming.

We were wrong on that front, though, as Evercore Heroes did come back in April of this year, but it came back as a co-op roguelite where you and two friends picked heroes and loadouts and completed missions together. Testing for this new vision has been underway for a little over a month now and the team recently reviewed player feedback and spoke to the action items it created for the team.

Now, having gone through all of those changes, the game is adding one more change: their name. Rebranded as "Evercore Heroes: Ascension", the new name doesn't really mark any drastic change in what Vela has been doing lately, but the team says it "reflects the massive growth and new direction the game has taken."

In addition to the new name, Vela Games will be dropping a new gameplay trailer next week on the 19th. The trailer, according to the team, will show off a "new way to play that you won't want to miss."

Pencil the reveal in now, but we'll be sure to update you on what we see.
