First Ever Watercraft Is Now In Planetside 2 As Surf And Storm Update Goes Live Today
Daybreak is celebrating with a free gift for all players.
Things are getting very, very wet in Planetside 2 with the release of the Surf and Storm update on PC. Today, Daybreak dropped the new content update, making major changes to the island continent of Oshur and adding new underwater gameplay as well as the game’s first-ever water vehicle. It also kicks off the second half of the game’s summer event.
The first naval vessel to be added to the game (because how else are you going to do underwater gameplay) is the Corsair assault craft. It can be found on the islands of Oshur and can take a driver, two gunners, and up to five additional players into water-based combat. Use it to attack targets both in the sea or on the shore. The craft even features a catapult system that allows players to launch their squadmates into battle. Just be certain they’re facing the right direction. Oh, yes, and it can be made prettier with a variety of cosmetics.
Speaking of attacking the shore, the island players will be picking up the Corsair from has had some love and now features new bases, a new lattice, and more. Flotillas have been relocated and control adjusted to create more fight locations on the island. For a full rundown on this as well as the mechanics behind underwater combat, check out the patch notes on the game’s site.
Finally, we did mention a free gift. To celebrate the launch of the new content, Daybreak is giving everyone a platinum version of the UBR-300 Swordfish. To receive it, players just need to use the redemption code SURF2022.
