Final Fantasy XIV Patch 6.5 Is Almost Upon Us, And The Preliminary Patch Notes Have Arrived
Here’s hoping you have everything ready.
On Tuesday, Final Fantasy XIV Patch 6.5 Growing Light will be released, bringing all the things we’ve told you about in our posts on PLL 78 and PLL 79. As we’re all aware by now, the MMORPG's update will wrap up a lot of content, including the current chapter of the MSQ and the Myths of the Realm alliance raid. Today, we got more information on what to expect in 6.5 specifically, when the preliminary patch notes dropped this morning.
The patch notes include three new quest lines, the MSQ, the alliance raid, and a new set of custom deliveries for the crafter/gatherer mains among us. There will also be a new quest available on the Island Sanctuary. For those who have managed to collect all the Lynx mounts, a quest to obtain your reward for that accomplishment is available.
To begin the new MSQ and alliance raid content, players will of course need to be level 90 and have completed all the prior related content. The custom delivery requires players to have a crafter or gatherer at or above level 80 before they can visit Theopauldin in Old Sharlayan and pick it up. The Lynx mount quest can be found in Old Sharlayan as well.
As for the Island Sanctuary, this is the update that adds the new “felicitous favors” system that will reward players for shipping specific items within a certain period. These favors change seasonally and will offer their own tokens – which are timed. If you don’t spend them within two weeks of getting them, they’re gone. So, keep that in mind.
In addition, the Island Sanctuary rank has been increased to 20 and new features have been added. This includes a new gathering area, gathering points, materials, crafting recipes, produce, animals, materials, and handicrafts. The update also implements the ability to rotate landmarks and copy your workshop agenda. That seems handy.
Speaking of new additions, the patch notes list several new housing items, from the 2019 and 2022 furnishing contests as well as new aquarium fish and new flowerpot seeds. New hairstyles have been added for the Viera and Hrothgar. Of course, there are new emotes, mounts, and minions as well.
Where older content is concerned, the final three Duty Supports have been added, so you can now go it alone if you like. That said, they seem to really want to get more players into those older Alliance Raids and they’re upping the rewards to encourage it. Now, doing the older alliance raids will not only earn players poetics but also tomestones of causality and comedy.
Of course, once the new patch drops, the current PvP season will come to an end, as will the Moogle Tome event. Those who haven’t completed those things and want to will need to spend the weekend working on it. Unfortunately, you can’t count on Monday, October 2 as downtime for the patch is slated to begin at 3:00 a.m. Pacific time and lasts until 3:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 3.
In additional news that’s going to be exciting for players in Brazil, Yoshi-P will be at the Brasil Game Show on Friday, October 13. During the event, he’ll meet with fans and will also be presented with a Lifetime Achievement award. If you’re planning on attending the event, mark out some time for that.
