Final Fantasy XIV’s Moogle Treasure Trove Returns Next Week
Once again, fishing, treasure hunting, Triple Triad, and GATEs count.
Continuing with the events and activities leading up to the launch of Dawntrail, Final Fantasy XIV’s Moogle Treasure Trove event is back next week. More specifically, the Second Hunt for Genesis Moogle event kicks off on May 14. Like the last event, this one is bigger and offers more goodies. It also offers more ways to accumulate the Irregular Tomestones needed to purchase the goodies.
For players of the MMORPG who didn’t participate in the First Hunt, here’s how the event works. Players receive a Mogpendium, which can be found in their collection menu under Duty. This item will list activities players can participate in to earn Irregular Tomesones. The activities are broken into Standard Objectives – the stuff you’d normally do during a Moogle event, Weekly Objectives, Minimog Challenges, and the Ultimog Challenge.
Weekly Objectives are exactly what they sound like. The game will list things you can do that week to earn tomes. There will only be one of these each week. Minimog challenges are also weekly, but players must choose one of two to do. Minimogs are an easy way to get Irregular Tomesones since they’re often something like beating an NPC at Triple Triad.
Finally, there’s the Ultimog Challenge. There is only one of these during the event. They give the most tomestones, and they can take time to complete. If it’s anything like the last one of accumulating 10,000 points during ocean fishing, the upside is that you will receive a smaller amount of additional tomes every time you go to work on it.
Beyond that, the event works the same as every other Moogle event. Do things. Collect tomestones. Buy things with tomestones. If you’re wondering what you can buy, the full list of items is available on the Lodestone now. It might be worth looking at the MGP tickets as well as the mounts, minions, and other items if you usually don’t. This time the Moogle Treasure Trove is running alongside the Make It Rain event – for the first couple of weeks anyway. Of course, that also means that GATEs will be an optimal way to earn those Irregular Tomestones as well.
