Final Fantasy XIV Live Letter Covered Lots Of Exciting Job Adjustments And Quality Of Life Changes
We’re going to have to wait a bit longer for the Data Center Travel system, though.
This past Friday, Square Enix hosted the 66th Final Fantasy Live Letter, covering all things Endwalker combat. A good portion of the seven~ish hour stream was dedicated to the all-important job adjustments, including big changes to Summoner mechanics, the addition of single target buffs for healers, and more. I’m personally pretty stoked about the decision to make the Dragoon’s Blood of the Dragon a trait. No longer do I have to keep remembering to fire that off. (I can’t tell you what Mike’s excited about. Honestly. Based on his reaction to the Job action trailer, I’m gonna say all of it?) Of course, there are plenty of new additions. It wouldn’t really be an expansion without it.
Jobs aren’t the only things being adjusted with the new expansion. Players can expect some changes to Duty rewards. When Endwalker arrives in November, trials that offer weapons as a reward (Normal and Extreme) will now drop a weapon coffer in addition to one of the available weapon rewards. This should make it easier for players to get the gear they really need.
Speaking of things players collect, okay I had to work just the tiniest bit to make that transition, the expansion will also make changes intended to reduce “inventory bloat”. The method chosen to do this is to make certain categories of weapons gathered along the way unavailable as high-quality versions. This includes gathered items, enemy drops, and token exchange materials. Don’t worry, crafted items will still be available as either normal- or high-quality items.
Of course, the live letter also covers a variety of system-related stuff. Things like HUD customization, improved ground targeting, and more all make the list. Unfortunately, one of those QoL things that players were really looking forward to – the Data Center Travel system – will be arriving a bit later. The delay is necessitated by needing to get server congestion under control first.
If you haven’t watched the Live Letter and have some hours to kill, you can find VOD below. Sorry, no captioning, guys.
