FIFA Online And FIFA Mobile Continue To Carry Nexon To Record Profits In Q2, MapleStory Declines
FIFA titles also to be rebranded.
Nexon has released Q2 earnings and it looks like another record quarter year-over-year for the Korean company with revenue up 12% and operating income up 22%.
Q2 revenue for Nexon reached ¥94.4 billion, up 12% year-over-year, and was within range of their outlook for the quarter. Per usual, this performance was driven by the growth of FIFA Online and FIFA Mobile, although they do also give some credit to Blue Archive, Wars of Prasia, and HIT2.
FIFA Online achieved record-breaking second quarter revenue, with paying users, MAUs, and ARPPU all increasing year over year. FIFA Mobile also had record-setting second quarter revenue.
In Korea, MapleStory came in under the outlook and revenue decreased year-over-year. They attribute this to increasing player engagement ahead of a big update coming in Q3. They do say the number of active users grew by double digits year-over-year, and project it to have double-digit revenue growth in Q3.
In July Nexon announced that FIFA Online and FIFA Mobile would both be rebranded to FC Online and FC Mobile. That rebranding will become effective in September and players will be able to continue their games with after updates.
