Fawkes Nails The Hype And Nostalgia For Defiance's Return This Week In A New Trailer
I wasn't a huge fan back in the day, but yes, I'll be trying out the game's return.
I don't know if it would have made any difference years ago, but judging by the trailer Fawkes posted to hype up the return of Defiance later this week, Fawkes probably should have been in charge of the F2P shooter's marketing back in the day. With a well-cut trailer sporting in-game footage from their stress test and a banging musical track, the trailer makes a compelling case for trying the game again. Those that played the game and were sad about it closing years ago will likely find the trailer to be just the right amount of hype and nostalgia. Judging by the comments on the trailer, they may have nailed it.
I even love the charm of a hand-controlled camera capturing the action.
I still think the return of Defiance is going to be a weird road. Whether the return is successful and sees the game return to consoles has yet to be decided, but the marketing so far is doing exactly what it needs to do. Will that translate to players and purchasers, though? We shall see. I've written more about why I think the return is odd, so you can get my full thoughts there, but yes, I will be diving back into Defiance.
