Fan-made "TF2 Classic" Now Out, Includes New Game Modes And Four-Team Brawls
The team behind a highly anticipated "classic" mod for Team Fortress 2 finally made good on years of work and promises, releasing their labor of love over the weekend. Team Fortress 2 Classic was created by a team of dedicated gamers calling themselves Eminoma, and it's available to download now via the TF2 Classic website.
TF2 Classic is "a re-imagining of the 2008-2009 era" of Valve's classic FPS, which includes "original core TF2 gamemodes ranging from Capture the Flag to Special Delivery" as well as new modes created by Eminoma. Those come in what the team calls the Death & Taxes update, which adds a VIP mode, where one team has to escort the "Civilian" while the other team tries to murder him, and Domination, an all-out brawl between four teams to secure control points.
Not included in this update is Deathmatch was split off from this project in 2018 because "It was too large; it felt like it's own separate game" -- and now it is its own separate game, being developed as "Team Deathmatch Classic" by Compucolor Pictures.
Even without that, there's a lot in Team Fortress 2 Classic to get your blood flowing -- probably onto the pavement, considering how a typical TF2 round goes -- and it's worth checking out even if you're not into the nostalgia of it all.
