False Start: Lord of the Rings Online's Helms Deep Expansion Delayed
Players ready to defend the walls of the Hornburg against thousands of Orcs and Uruk-hai in the Helm's Deep expansion for The Lord of the Rings Online must hold for just a while longer. The expansion was originally suppose to launch yesterday, but not even the forces of Sauron can stop an unfortunate power outage at developer Turbine's main data center.
The power outage appears to have had no long-lasting effects on the LOTRO servers and Turbine has since reported that everything appears to be running swimmingly, that is except for the expansion. For now the Helm's Deep launch remains temporarily delayed until tomorrow, Wednesday November 20th. Because of this, the developer is extending the pre-release 100% XP boost event until then as well.
Helms Deep is already on track to become one of the MMOs most played expansion yet. A post made by LOTRO Community Manager Sapience, indicated Helms Deep's beta was the first since Shadows of Angmar -released in 2007- that tripped the login queues and forced the devs to raise the max player population on the server.
