Fallout 76 Announces Removal Of Illegal Weapons Mods
Some folks are about to be very unhappy.
Today, Bethesda dropped an update in Fallout 76 that, in addition to adding a couple of weekend events, made a change that will go unnoticed by most but likely make others pretty unhappy. If you’re one of the people who have been using illegal weapon mod attachments, you’re about to lose them. The new update implemented a system that will detect attachments that “don’t naturally belong to and cannot be obtained through gameplay”. This will also affect any mods that were removed from the drop pool sometime in the past during balance adjustments. That’ll be things like the Stalkers Shovel and Explosive Energy Weapons.
This news was announced in today's Inside the Vault post. The post doesn’t specify any punishments for using these mods, so it seems players will just have to deal with losing them. That said, they may begin implementing bans for anyone who tries to get around the new system at a later point, so be careful.
In addition to dealing with the mods, Bethesda also announced some weapon improvements. As of now, assault rifles have the Rifle classification regardless of mods, “Explosive Bullets” only applies to bullets (with the exception of railway spikes), Handy Buzz Blade’s VATS AP consumption has been reduced, scrapping Radium Rifles will allow players to learn mods at an increased rate, and gunpower is now in the junk/scrap category.
