AVALON is a new MMO game that’s meant to empower players to not only play, but also create and share their own virtual experiences. One of the folks behind the “platform” is Jeffrey Butler, one of the original producers for EverQuest. The remote start-up studio introduces a player-centric and publisher-agnostic approach, according to AVALON. They aim to dissolve the boundaries between the virtual and real worlds, offering tools for players to shape the game world as they envision it.
The game itself, built using Unreal Engine, is made by a global team of developers from titles like Call of Duty, Diablo, Assassin’s Creed, Elden Ring, and World of Warcraft. It uses technologies from Didimo and Inworld AI. AVALON enables creators to design characters and interact with non-playable characters in ways not seen in traditional MMOs, according to the developers.
This game/platform’s core philosophy revolves around fostering a community where players can not only play, but also actively participate in the creation process. It is supposed to revolve around the art and creativity of game-making over financial considerations.
There's more info available on the game's official site.
