Evil Dead: The Game Publisher Boss Team Games Working On 2 "Halloween" IP-Based Projects
Not a lot of details on this one yet, but there's reason to think at least one could be multiplayer.
As a horror movie buff myself, I love seeing games made after popular (and maybe some obscure) horror franchises. Sure, they often aren't great, and maybe some of them deviate so far from the source material that fans sit scratching their heads in confusion. We've had a few good ones in recent years, though. Friday the 13th: The Game offered some great asymmetric gameplay before the team got the freeze put on them while other parties engaged in a copyright lawsuit.
More recently, we've seen Evil Dead: The Game follow in that same spirit and, while it may not have hundreds of thousands of players, the game was generally well received. Check out Troy's First Look below to see his take on it.
Evil Dead: The Game was developed by Saber Interactive and published by Boss Team Games. Now, thanks to a reveal by IGN, we know that Boss Team Games is working on more horror fun. This time around, there are two titles in development based on John Carpenter's "Halloween" franchise.
While we don't know a ton about the titles, we do know that they are being worked on in conjunction with the producers of the films, and that one of the titles will be built in Unreal Engine 5 and will feature input from the man himself, John Carpenter.
Given the studio's past, I'm hopeful at least one of these titles will cross into the multiplayer space. I'd hate for this to be the last time I write about them on this multiplayer site...although, a single-player Michael Myers game...hmm.
“Everyone at Boss Team Games are huge fans of horror and Halloween obviously holds a special place in the hearts of all horror fans,” said Boss Team Games CEO Steve Harris “Getting to work with iconic characters like Michael Myers and build on John Carpenter’s original vision is literally a dream come true. Everyone at Boss Team is thrilled and honored to be working with Malek Akkad and John Carpenter to deliver a one-of-a-kind experience that fans of the movie and video games will love.”
