Everything You Need To Know From Genshin Impact’s 2.8 Livestream
From new skins to a new adventure, 2.8 has it all.
For those who missed out on Genshin Impact’s livestream, we’re here to fill you in on all the ‘juicy’ details that were revealed. In the newest update Genshin will have a new Summer event called “Summer Fantasia,” a new catalyst 4-star character, Kazuha’s story quest, and two brand new character skins.
Travelers are returning to the Golden Apple Archipelago, only this time around the islands have undergone some interesting changes since we traversed and explored with Klee and the gang. The story here will feature Kazuha, Mona, Fischl, and Xinyan, all of whom have a secret connection with the islands that will create different themes, mechanics, and challenges for players.
Here, players can enjoy completing a slew of summer events. Completing these events will reward Travelers with shells called Iridescent Flotsam. Players can then use these shells in the event shop to claim many rewards, one of which allows players to add Fischl and Oz to the party. Additionally, the summer event, Summertime Odyssey, will offer more than just domains, but also a sailing game mode and a new co-op specific event. If players have been looking forward to playing Genshin Impact with friends, this is the event for you.
Then, just like last year, this year Travelers will go around collecting conches and listening to the stories they have to tell. After collecting enough conches, players will have the opportunity to unlock a brand new outfit. This outfit belongs to the four-star electro archer, Fischl.
Another skin being added to the game is the first “5-star skin”. While Jean and Keqing have their own skins as well, this one is the first skin that includes more than just an aesthetic change. Diluc’s skin will bring with it a challenge event called Hidden Strife. In this event, players will be able to try out the new skin without having to purchase it. This new skin comes with a backstory, new idle animations, and new effects.
Genshin 2.8 is bringing in the first male catalyst user, Shikanoin Heizou. Heizou is a 4-star anemo user who uses melee attacks, an attack style he learned from his father. While Heizou is a strong opponent, he prefers to use his brain over his brawn and likes to stay close to the action. Having Heizou in a player's party will decrease sprint consumption for the whole team and not just when Heizou is on the field, making him a perfect partner for exploring new regions to come. Players hoping to get Heizou won’t have to wait much longer as he is on the first half of the banner, paired with Kazuha. Then, after Kazuha will be a double banner with Klee and Yoimiya.
Finally, finishing the broadcast was the sound of a new voice players have never heard before. Travelers were able to see lush green forests, large flowers, and new towns that can only exist in the long awaited area of Sumeru. Sadly, Travelers will have to probably wait until the next livestream to learn more, because as the broadcast ends viewers can hear: “I’m sure destiny will bring our paths together soon.”
